Some of hte photos were slightly modified to create a different format...
per example the 7 is in a 3/2 format while it has been printed in a cinemascope one (2/1); the same format was used for the 2.
The 3 instead has been changed forma a4/3 to a 3/2 in order to cut framing expenses... it has gained from the new crop... I had never figured that out!

Selling photos to the Church...

Sometimes it really happens...
Last week I've sold 13 photos to a social enterprise linked to our Church...
I'll not be rich and famous thanks to them but it was a good pleasure.

Which ones? Too many to link them at once... they will be presented in the next few weeks and will be marked with a new tag: "SoldPhoto" as it is for this same blog

Attack!!!

This is one of my favorite shots between those taken in Mergellina...
There are several Virgin Maria's Statues on the artificial reefs near Via Mergellina in Naples.
As they are not the most crowded places out there (they are pretty isolated to say it fairly!) many seagulls gathere there...

One of hte shot I took of them is kinda funny as it seems the gull is going to dive on the statue as a bomber in flight!

Let's see for youselves!

My first (and only) BIF

Yep, I do not use to shoot BIF (Bird in Flight!) as usually is difficult to have them in Naples.

This shots (with several others) was taken when I was trying to evaluate autofocus of the Nikon D300 + Sigma 70-300 Apo bundle^_^

It's a really cheap lens.. but it is similar to a 450 f/5.6 on a D300 so it's godo tele... it has no HSM, it has no IS (OS) but it is cheap and a good performer!

I'm sure there are far better 300 out there... but You'll find difficult to beat the quality/price ration of this lens!

I't a f/5.6 at 300 (and it's a little soft too) so you need much light as you've to shoot with a little aperture a long focal...

Let the photo speak for itself^_^

The Exif reads:
Nothing!!!
I've deleted it before conversion from RAW or maybe with some little retouch in GIMP!

have a good light all year long!

First post of 2010

I've still to take any photo in the 2010 as I'm working on refining a research text...

But I've still plenty of photos from the last 2 years to upload^_^
So... why not to start the new year with a street photo? a photo bombing done to me (not by me!)

I was taking the photo of our P.zza del Plebiscito new decoration the phrase "Love Difference" writtin in many languages (there are several I do not know).

I put the camer on a street light (the base not the top) and choose a 1 second exposure... While I was shooting a man walked to the center of the frame (while texting!) and stood there for a little (2-3 seconds) b4 going away...

Near perfect center! [you can see the whole picture without the man at http://sightsandlights.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html

Exif tells me:
Aperture: f/22
Shutter Speed: 1 sec.
Focal length on lens: 20mm
ISO: 640
Camera: Nikon D300
Date: 04 Jan 2008
Time: 09:54 PM

P.S. If I had to reshoot this photo today it would ave been a little different... it's good to see my old photos knowing I can do a lot better than that. It tells me I've still much to learn

And the shipment goes...

It has quite a month...
I've had 3 speechs in the last month... to many to have an updated blog!

But... let us going on with our cargo trend and look at another photo of an another cargo!

I do not remember WHY I had taken that photo... so I won't go inventing it!

Exif is my only lead and it says:
Camera Model: NIKON D300
Date Taken: 2009:02:08 15:49:55
Exposure Time: 1/800 sec.
Aperture Value: 4.97 EV (f/5.6)
ISO Speed Rating: 200
Focal Length: 300.0 mm

First Cargo

Even if this picture has been ideally presented after the previous one.

It comes out of the same day I was taking some shot at Mergellina with Pino, a friend of mine.
As you can see it is a 1250 ISO shot... I found it still impressive how much it is clean.
Moreover it is not have been taken with the SIGMA 70-300 APO but with a AF-D 28-105 mm f/3.5 -4.5. That is a MACRO lens! Funny how well it can focus on far objects... the only thing I had to gripe with that lens was is rotating focusing screen.

Too bad it was stolen too...
