There's still hope

Ok... I usually see things in my photos many other pepole doesn't see... but I think this is an exception as several persons share my own reading of it^_^.

Ok so this leads me to change the usual order... first I'll show you the photo and after it I'll briefly give you some info on it...

Here it comes...

The exif is:
Camera Model: NIKON D300
Date Taken: 2009:01:31 15:55:11
Exposure Time: 1/80 sec.
Aperture Value: 4.97 EV (f/5.6)
ISO Speed Rating: 200
Flash Fired: Flash did not fire.
Exposure Program: Manual
Focal Length: 300.0 mm

This title givew away my own reading of the shot. The fisherman looking in the sky at the tip of the fishing rod hoping to see it move revealing the catch of a tasty treat... so here it is... it not too far off a normal reading and I think there's a clear message in it...

Have a good light!

When the fish doesn't get the bait.... (Color)

As already said this is the same exposure as before just with a color post-processing

When the fish doesn't get the bait....

In the same day of the previous photo I shoot another fisherman... it seemed more "sad" as he usually looked bown on hte waters near the shoreline...

I recall easily the shooting conditions of these few photos (there are 2 shots and three images from this same man^_^) as I was stopped by the Carabinieri as I was shooting near U.S. Ambassy in Naples.

This same shot has been post-produced in b/W and in Color (next photo on this blog) as I'm still today unsure on what I like best (troublesome to be me!!).

P.S. This was shot with the SIGMA 70-300... not the best glass in the world but still plenty useful!!

Fisherman and boat

This is the first shot who lead me to create a succession on photo-expedition centered on fisherman in Naples' riviera.

This was a peacefull day with just a touch of too much clouds that lead me to imagine the photos in B/W... (much each and every photo on this topic was meant for a B/W light room conversion beforeeven shooting it!)

I feel this photo shows something "classical" about Naples... So the B/W seems to me just fine...

I had several problems choosing the contrast in post processing the image as I usually prefer an higher contrast but I did not wanted to lose the "traditional - old photo" look and feel.

As usual EXIF says:

Red Sky, Black Castle

Ok this is the last shot from the previous series... this last three shots were all taken in the same morning only a few minutes from the other two.

IIRC this was the first one... I was going for a classic photo... the silhouette!

But a single silhouette is a boring one... moreover is a flat photo... I needed something to create a sensation of depth...

The main subject was the Castel Dell'Ovo A monument in Naples linked to an ancient myth... The depth was provided by the boat in the lower right...

I'm happy of this shot as it has come out exactly as I figured it out^_^

The right exposure

This is not one of my best shots... meybe it can be considered one of my worst!
But I keep looking at it as it is one that has teached me something...

This shot has been made several minutes before the previous one... and it is the best of three or four try!!
The contrast in the image forced me to choose or a washed sky or silhouetted boats!

With the same lights only a couple of minutes later... I shot the photo from the previous post... and that has a good exposure... why? as I turned my back at the rising sun! (there's another thing I could have done as I'll show you in the next post).

Exif reads:

P.s. I've already scheduled the next post before leaving...
